When
appropriate I introduce writers and their screenplays to my colleagues at
different movie studios and film production companies such as Dreamworks,
Sony Pictures, and HBO, among others.
I’m a writer too – a big
difference from some other script and screenplay consultants. I know what
you are going through since I write everyday. I have the advantage of having
a writer’s mind and a film development executive’s experience.
I sold a screenplay to Distant Horizons, producer of Sarafina! and Cry,The
Beloved Country.
I
was winner of the Carl Sautter Memorial Scriptwriting Competition and was
a finalist in both the Sundance Screenwriters Workshop and prestigious Pen
West Emerging Voices writing competition.
I
have a Masters degree in screenwriting and journalism from Columbia University.
I teach at National University, school of Media & Communication.
I’m a published journalist, with regular contributions to Script Magazine.
I’ve
presented workshops on screenwriting, script development and pitching to
Hollywood at such varied conferences as Final Draft Scriptwriters Showcase
Conference, UCLA Producers Program, Santa Fe Screenwriters Conference, the
Scriptwriters Network, Organization of Black Screenwriters, Southern California
American Indian Center, Network India-Tie Asia Pacific Conference, and Flash
Forward Institute. I am on the board of directors of the Robey Theatre Company,
a Los Angeles based non-profit founded by actor
Danny Glover and theatre director Bennett Guillory.
